How Looser Building Restrictions Helped the DFW Housing Market
A new report found that during the pandemic, the Dallas metro area ramped up new-home construction more than most metros in the U.S.
The Dallas-Fort Worth metro area emerged as one of the strongest U.S. housing markets in responding to the pandemic-era home buying surge.
The DFW metro area issued 91,460 single-family building permits in 2021 and 2022—18.8% more than expected based on historical market conditions.
That outpaced most large metros, placing Dallas among the top ten markets whose builders most effectively ramped up construction amid rising prices and scarce inventory.
